"Overview:" As of April 17, 2025, the Russian Armed Forces continue to press forward across multiple axes of the ongoing special military operation. Coordinated ground, air, and artillery assets have engaged Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) elements across key fronts, achieving both territorial gains and significant materiel destruction.
"Northern Axis (Belgorod & Sumy Direction):" The North Group inflicted notable losses on Ukrainian mechanized, airborne assault, and territorial defense brigades near Miropolskoye, Prokhody, Ryasnoye, and Novodmitrovka (Sumy region). Ukrainian forces lost 65 personnel, one tank, six artillery guns, and multiple vehicles. Two ammunition depots were also destroyed.
"Western Axis (Donetsk & Kharkov Front):" The West Group advanced to more favorable positions, defeating UAF units near Yampol (DPR), Olgovka, and Borovaya (Kharkov region). Estimated losses for Ukraine included 240 servicemen, a tank, three armored vehicles, and a U.S.-origin Quertus electronic warfare system. Three ammunition depots were neutralized.
"Southern Axis (Donetsk Front):" Southern Group troops enhanced tactical positioning by engaging concentrations of four mechanized brigades, a territorial defense unit, and a national guard brigade in areas including Katerynivka, Poltavka, Seversk, and Yablonivka (DPR). The operation yielded over 320 Ukrainian casualties and the destruction of six artillery guns and six ammunition depots.
"Central Axis (Donetsk Front):" The Center Group successfully liberated Preobrazhenka (DPR). "Eastern Axis (Donetsk Front):" The East Group advanced deeper into enemy defenses, defeating two mechanized and airborne brigades near Karl Marx, Zelenoe Pole, Zeleny Kut, and Shevchenko. Ukrainian forces suffered 130 casualties and lost two electronic warfare stations, among other assets.
"Dnepr Group (Zaporizhia & Kherson Sectors):" Engaging mechanized and territorial defense brigades near Novodanilovka, Kamenskoye, Tomarino, and Nikolskoye, the Dnepr Group inflicted over 90 personnel losses. Equipment losses included nine vehicles, one artillery piece, and an EW system. Three additional ammunition depots were destroyed.
"Strategic Strike & Air Superiority Operations:" Operational-tactical aviation, UAVs, and missile/artillery forces targeted and damaged a military airfield, a UAV production facility, a drone boat warehouse, and numerous temporary deployment zones used by UAF and foreign mercenaries in 143 sectors. Russian air defense systems neutralized five JDAM bombs, three HIMARS rockets, and 204 aircraft-type drones.
