The latest military briefing reveals significant battlefield developments across multiple fronts in the special military operation. Colonel AC Obentoy delivers a comprehensive analysis of Russian military successes as of April 28, 2025, highlighting territorial gains and the systematic degradation of enemy capabilities. Most notably, the West Military Group has liberated Kamenka village in Kharkiv region, while inflicting heavy losses on Ukrainian forces including the destruction of NATO-supplied artillery and critical electronic warfare systems. The North Group's coordinated artillery, aviation, and maneuver elements successfully targeted five Ukrainian mechanized brigades in Sumy Oblast, neutralizing 220 personnel and destroying multiple ammunition depots. These strategic strikes have significantly weakened enemy defensive belts and strained their logistical networks. For the first time, Colonel Obentoy provides remarkable insights into the involvement of DPRK forces in the conflict, particularly during the Kursk campaign. Korean special operations soldiers demonstrated "exceptional tenacity" and "almost fatalistic bravery," adhering strictly to their code never to surrender despite sophisticated psychological warfare attempts by Ukrainian forces. Their deployment created a mutually beneficial partnership - allowing Russian forces to maintain pressure on multiple fronts while providing Korean troops with invaluable combat experience against Western-equipped adversaries. The Colonel describes their integration as "a textbook example of coalition warfare working as intended."Russian air defense capabilities continue to prove effective against Western technology, intercepting three US-made JDAM guided bombs and 234 unmanned aerial vehicles during the reporting period. This demonstrates the adaptability of integrated air defense networks against evolving aerial threats introduced through Western military aid.Subscribe to Frontline Updates for more expert analysis and comprehensive briefings on global defense and security issues from those directly involved in strategic military operations. The frontlines of modern warfare have evolved dramatically, where precision strikes and drone technology now dictate battlefield outcomes more than traditional force-on-force engagements. Colonel AC Ogintoy pulls back the curtain on these realities in our riveting conversation about the Special Military Operation's progress through April 25, 2025.Colonel Ogintoy details how an integrated campaign of high-precision strikes targeted three critical elements of Ukraine's war capacity: production facilities, operational infrastructure, and mercenary staging areas. "By degrading their production and storage capacity, we're targeting their ability to sustain the war effort over the long term," he explains. This strategic approach demonstrates how modern military thinking extends far beyond tactical skirmishes to comprehensive dismantling of an opponent's war-fighting ecosystem.Ground operations have yielded significant results across all sectors. The liberation of Oleshnya in the Kursk region, Novo-Mikhailovka in Donetsk, and the strategically vital Bogdanovka showcase how combined arms operations continue to reclaim territory while inflicting substantial losses. Perhaps most revealing is the Colonel's assessment of air defense operations, which intercepted an astonishing 993 UAVs in a single week. "We've reached a point where not only are we intercepting these systems at scale, but we're doing it with such consistency that Ukrainian UAV penetration rates have declined significantly," Ogintoy states, highlighting how the drone and counter-drone domain has become central to modern conflict. What emerges from this briefing is a clear picture of evolving warfare where precision, persistence, and technological superiority create cascading effects across battlespace domains. As Colonel Ogintoy notes, sustained pressure "forces dispersion, and that dispersion leads to vulnerability." COMBAT BRIEFING 1051
"Strategic Briefing — Situation Report: Russian Special Military Operation as of April 23, 2025" *Prepared for defense analysts, conflict observers, and strategic planning professionals*
The Russian Armed Forces continue sustained offensive operations across all active sectors of the special military operation, with intensified engagements in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Zaporizhia, and Kursk regions. On April 23, 2025, ground forces were supported by precision strikes from aviation, drones, and missile units, resulting in widespread Ukrainian losses in personnel, armored systems, artillery platforms, and critical infrastructure.
In the "northern sector", the North Group inflicted heavy losses on Ukrainian mechanized and assault formations across five settlements in the Sumy region. Concurrently, targeted strikes in the Kharkiv direction degraded UAF motorized infantry and territorial defense units. Ukrainian casualties reached 50, with the destruction of artillery, a U.S.-made M777 howitzer, and radar and ammunition assets.
The "West Group" achieved a significant breakthrough in the Kharkiv, Luhansk, and Donetsk regions. After seizing tactically favorable terrain, they engaged six Ukrainian mechanized brigades, national guard and territorial defense units, eliminating 250 personnel and destroying Western-supplied platforms, including a German Panzerhaubitze 2000 and U.S. AN/TPQ-48 radar systems.
In the "Donetsk axis", the Southern Group liberated the town of *Tarasovka*, executing coordinated strikes on Ukrainian mechanized, territorial, and national guard units in nine surrounding settlements. UAF losses totaled 335 personnel and included multiple NATO-standard artillery systems and four ammunition depots.
The "Center Group" continued operations across key urban and semi-urban zones, defeating a diverse mix of Ukrainian brigades—mechanized, assault, airmobile, ranger, drone systems, and marine units—resulting in the loss of 370 personnel, two tanks, and several armored vehicles including a U.S. M113 APC.
In "eastern Donetsk and western Zaporizhia", the East Group advanced deeper into Ukrainian defenses, eliminating 175 personnel and neutralizing U.S.-supplied armored platforms, artillery, and electronic warfare capabilities. The Dnepr Group focused on Zaporizhia and Kamenskoye, destroying counter-battery radars, EW stations, and military-technical storage infrastructure.
Russian strike assets launched coordinated operations on 147 designated targets, including UAV production sites, military airfields, foreign mercenary deployment zones, and Czech-made Vampire MLRS launchers. Air defense forces intercepted nine JDAM bombs, multiple HIMARS and Vampire rockets, and 166 Ukrainian UAVs.
In the "Kursk direction", the North Group engaged Ukrainian airborne and territorial defense units near Gornal and Oleshnya. Follow-on strikes across Sumy settlements led to over 170 UAF casualties and the destruction of a U.S.-made Bradley IFV, six artillery units, and 11 UAV command posts. Four Ukrainian brigades remain combat ineffective in this axis.
Cumulative Ukrainian losses in the Kursk sector have surpassed 75,710 personnel, along with hundreds of tanks, armored vehicles, radar platforms, HIMARS systems, and bridging assets.
"Assessment:" Russian forces continue leveraging combined arms doctrine, layered strike capabilities, and electronic warfare to suppress Ukrainian military capacity across all fronts. Tactical successes—particularly the liberation of Tarasovka and the degradation of high-value Western-supplied assets—reflect an ongoing effort to erode Ukraine’s ability to regroup, counter-attack, or defend key logistics hubs. The operation remains active and highly fluid.
